What I've been watching

I haven't had a TV obsession since Breaking Bad.

Until now.

The last few days I've been poorly, and have spent a good amount of time lying down watching Sherlock on DVDs.

Magnificent. I love it.

Try this brief and perfect sample:

It is very clever and very funny. I read Sherlock Holmes stories as a kid at my grandmother's house, reading the volume she had received for a school prize and enjoying it immensely. I have that volume now and have not picked it up in many years, but I am now itching to read it again.

When my headache goes away that is.

For now, TV's modern Sherlock will suffice.

I can make do, I suppose.

I know, it's very boring and common to be enamored of Benedict Cumberbatch, but you can now add me to the throng of adoring fans.

What have you been watching lately?

  2. I never read any Sherlock Holmes and haven't seen the TV series either, I'm just not into it. I'm not at all enamoured with Benedict Cumberbatch either.

I prefer Nathan Fillion in Castle and also watch the Death in Paradise series.

    1. A lot of people love Castle; I've never seen it. I haven't heard of the other one. There's so little time for TV I have to choose my obsessions carefully.

    2. Death In Paradise is on the ABC, in its third season now, filmed on a tiny island in the Caribbean and features an English detective inspector sent out to help the local police force solve crimes. It's far less blood'n'gutsy than American murder shows.

    3. That sounds pretty good. I might have to check that one out.

  3. Hi Jackie,

I've never watched Sherlock to be honest. I should because it is written by Steven Moffat, the current man behind Dr Who.

Also, Benedict Cumberbatch was fantastic playing Khan in the latest Star Trek film.

    :-)

    Cheers

    1. I'm surprised PM, I would think you'd really like this. Alas, I can't get into Star Wars at all.

    1. Finally better thanks.
I know I'm alone here but I don't quite get the Tom Hiddleston thing; then again I haven't actually seen the movie just pictures all over the Internet.

  6. We only discovered them a few months ago too and binge-watched the three series over a weekend. Now wonder if this 'Breaking Bad' bizzo needs to be investigated....
