That's as maybe, but it seems to be gaining some traction over the last year or so (i.e., since I have started actually using it??*).
So, what with all of us morphing from people and employees into social media brands these days, what if LinkedIn changed to reflect the entire person you are?
I'm not sure if this would make it less awkward dorky or more so, but it would be very handy for parents returning to work after a long absence, non-corporate types and... bloggers looking for a quick blog post topic...
For example, my current LinkedIn profile looks something like this:
__________________________________________________________________
SUMMARY
I have 12 years' experience in stockbroking operations with
particular strengths in equity and options trade clearing, data and
documentation management, and compliance. I am also good at managing and
developing staff.

What would your Whole Life LinkedIn look like?

*I'm a late adopter, so if I'm using it everyone's using it.
What is a blingle?
ReplyDeleteLinkedin has helped me get a couple of jobs - can't complain.
Yeah I'm starting to like LinkedIn more than I did.
DeleteBlingles are one of those girly craft toys that get churned out every other month that look easy but end up being too hard for kids to do on their own so you have to help. Great.
I've been LinkedIn for around five years, but all it's got me is a few old friends that weren't on Facebook!
ReplyDeleteThat's funny! It has connected me up to people I worked with like, 15 years ago! But it's basically an online CV/business card and quite helpful as long as you keep it up to date and write it well (which I haven't - mine has my blog photo too which I don't like - must get that fixed).
DeleteHi Jackie,
ReplyDeleteBizarrely I am not on LinkedIn. I might be if I look for another job. Nice idea for a post - I might steal it.
:-)
Cheers

Steal away PM! Let's get a meme going ;)
DeleteI thought of trying to create a hashtag on Twitter, see who joins in (but I'm too shy).
